This is what I believe the Lord has given me for us to hear, receive and pray into:- Adam ate the fruit! Until then he had an idyllic life in a beautiful garden, good and plentiful food; except for the fruit of one tree! Companionship, a wife and best of all, they had a relationship with God. They walked and talked together - right there in the very beginning! What more could they want? All went well - until Adam disobeyed! He listened to wrong advice, was tempted and sinned. Life changed forever, for them and us and for all creation.
Sin has consequences not only for the sinners but for the generations after them. They were sent out of that perfect, delightful place, where God had put them. And worse - their relationship with God, our Father, was now broken. A disobedient act which affected the whole of mankind for years; until Jesus offered His Life, His Blood, as the Sacrifice needed to get us back into relationship with our Father, Son and Holy Spirit again. The choice is ours.
By confessing and repenting of our disobedience and turning to Jesus, we can be restored. Interestingly, the Bible tells us a true repentant heart enabled God to stop plagues! A bit like this dreadful virus that has affected the whole world too, bringing fear and grief to many. Disobedience, sin... consequences.
Knowing our sinful nature, God gave guidelines, commandments, to help us - such is His Love for us. He gave these teachings and instructions to His people, the Jews, knowing the many blessings they would receive by keeping them. These promises are for us Gentiles too, if we choose to leave this earthly kingdom, with its ruler, Satan and covenant with God, choosing His perfect spiritual Kingdom, possible through the Cross. It remains our choice as to whether we are willing to accept a Covenant Relationship with Father God through the precious Blood of Jesus and by the Power of the Holy Spirit.
As a relatively new Christian, I was taught, if I kept His guidelines I would be covered, be in a safe place and receive His protection. Sin, would mean I wouldn't be covered or protected. Genesis 12 v 1-3 was the first major healing scripture the Lord showed me for all Christians.
The Lord said to Abram, “Leave your country, your relatives, and your father's home, and go to a land that I am going to show you. I will give you many descendants, and they will become a great nation. I will bless you and make your name famous, so that you will be a blessing. I will bless those who bless you, But I will curse those who curse you. And through you I will bless all the nations.”
Abram needed to be 'separated from', 'cut from', and 'leave' the idolatrous land he was in; and 'leave' his family before he could go and be blessed in the 'new land' that God would show him (i.e. his born again land). In the Jewish understanding the physical and spiritual meanings go together, affecting each other.
So when we choose Jesus, get born again and come into Covenant with the Triune Godhead, we need to apply Genesis 12 v 1-3 giving us a better chance of walking in the destiny God has for us.
We become 'lighter' as we get rid of any rubbish we may be carrying from our 'old self' and anything from our generation lines. Receiving God's deliverance and healing makes more room for the Holy Spirit within us. His spiritual cleansing from anything that may have defiled and damaged us due to sin, disobedience, wrong choices etc. is available for all believers for our spirit, soul and body. We can know His restoration and be restored to how He created us to be.
The Bible is full of healing scriptures. Jesus taught and healed His disciples from the Tanakh, (the Old Covenant) and then sent them out saying,
"The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand, cure the sick, raise the dead, (spiritual and physical!) cleanse the lepers and drive out demons."
This is the deliverance and healing ministry of Jesus and is for all who are in a Covenant Relationship with Him, enabling us to be covered and cleansed and better able to fulfill His plan. Jesus has given us the Holy Spirit, and the authority and power to work with God in restoring people to a better place with Him. He says, doing this is an attesting sign that we belong to Him!
When we stand face to face with Him, how good it will be to hear Him say to us, "Well done, you have obeyed My command, helping Me, working with Me, to restore My people to wholeness" So be it Lord!
